Iowa Code Chapter 12 includes investment restriction and divestment mandates for public pension funds, including MFPRSI.
Sudan Investment Restrictions
Iowa Code chapter 12F prohibits MFPRSI from investing in certain companies doing business in Sudan. This law became effective July 1, 2007.
Iran Investment Restrictions
Iowa Code chapter 12H prohibits MFPRSI from investing in certain companies doing business in Iran. This law became effective on July 1, 2011.
Companies that Boycott Israel Restrictions
Iowa Code chapter 12J prohibits MFPRSI from investing in certain companies that boycott Israel. This law became effective on July 1, 2016, but did not apply to public funds until March 1, 2017. In 2022 the law was amended to broaden the definition of "Company."
China Investment Restrictions
Iowa Code chapter 12K prohibits MFPRSI from investing in companies that are owned or controlled by the Chinese military or government services. This law became effective on July 1, 2023.
